Nicole is a Santa Cruz surfer making big waves in cool-climate wine, growing super rare grapes in rugged coastal terrain. After working in wine around the world — from Michigan to New Zealand to Santa Cruz — she started her label, Ser, which means “to express origin” in Spanish. Ser specializes in unique single-vine, single-varietal wines that are a pure reflection of where they came from.
Think all Rieslings are sweet? Think again. This surprisingly rich, sparkling wine is completely dry - reminiscent of the traditional German or Alsatian styles. AKA, all of the aromatic notes, sans the sugar. Bright natural acidity and distinctive minerality, with notes of lime, pear, and a hint of pineapple. It just may change your opinion of Riesling - forever.

The Riesling is sourced from the Wirz Vineyard in Cienega Valley. Old vines (planted in 1963), head trained, organically farmed and dry farmed (no irrigation) on decomposed granite and limestone soils.
The Cienega Valley is surprisingly cool climate located on the Eastern side of the Gavilan mountains in San Benito County. The yields are very low due to the tiny berries and clusters on the old vines. The wine has bright, natural acidity with distinctive minerality.
“When I started Ser in 2012, the Sparkling Riesling was my first wine made and how I launched the label. The vineyard is very special to me because of the unique site, soils, age of the vines, and the grower, Pat Wirz is the best!”
