Longtime friends Eric Railsback and Justin Willett first met as part of a small group of young winemakers and restaurateurs in Santa Barbara, California. Unified by a common interest in balanced, interesting, and likable wines, the pair founded Lieu Dit in 2011. Lieu Dit roughly translates to 'named place' – alluding to the French tradition of naming a place because, when you do so, you imbue it with meaning across generations. Wine is Eric and Justin's Lieu Dit.
It’s a French-inspired wine with a Santa Barbara spin. Think smooth Sancerre rather than a tropical New Zealand Sauvy B. Think elegant but approachable—like Meryl Streep in sweatpants. Think bright. Balanced. Drinkable day and night, with food or on its own. Think perfection, canned.
These grapes are grown in certified sustainable Santa Ynez Vineyard, a unique area in the Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara that gets heaps of bright sunshine, hits of wet fog, gusts of salty wind, and temperatures that swing 30 degrees – very similar to conditions in Loire Valley, France.

The can art embodies the wine inside: bright with a stroke of earthiness. The colors are also a nod to the terroir – you can almost see yourself drinking from this can in sunny Santa Barbara.
Lieu Dit recommends you pair it with Thai and sushi takeout, or drink alongside pasta with butter, lemon, and clams or mussels.
The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc was fermented completely stainless steel. The grapes were sourced from Santa Ynez Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley (aka the Happy Canyon) just outside Santa Barbara, California – the same vineyard Maker's Albariño by Camins 2 Dream is sourced from. It's SIP Certified – meaning the grapes are grown and harvested sustainably. Expect medium acidity, light bodied, low sweetness wine in every can.

Making great wine in Santa Barbara requires a deep sensitivity to the variable pace of vintages. Equipped with nearly two decades of experience in the region, we employed the time-tested choreography of harvest and winemaking to present to you a refreshing, focused and sapid Sauvignon Blanc – it speaks at once of the vintage's wind and sun.
