We asked Nicole Walsh for a Chard that would win over the “anything but Chard” crowd and still make big Cali Chard lovers happy. Meet the maker
Nicole Walsh is a Santa Cruz surfer making big waves in cool-climate wine. After working in wine everywhere from Michigan to New Zealand, she started her own label, Ser, which means “to express origin” in Spanish. She usually goes hunting for grapes most people have never heard of (she’s the mastermind behind our Cabernet Pfeffer), so getting a Chardonnay out of her felt like a bit of a plot twist, and we’re so glad she said yes.
